If you’ve been looking for a high-performance router that’s both powerful and compact, this new WiFi 6 PoE+ router built on the Raspberry Pi CM5 Carrier Board might be exactly what you need. Previously, I have written about the CM5 MINIMA Carrier Board supports Raspberry Pi CM5. You can check this out for reference.

Specifications and features:

At its core, the router features a CM5104032 module with 4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC storage, and built-in WiFi. It also supports PCIe switching for both WiFi and 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, so you get excellent connectivity options.

When it comes to networking, the router offers MT7916 3×3 802.11AX WiFi 6 for fast and stable wireless performance, plus the CM5’s internal WiFi and Bluetooth for extra flexibility. For wired connections, you get one 1Gbps Ethernet port and one 2.5Gbps Ethernet port, along with two USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 port for extra devices. The FlexMIMO antennas from Laird ensure strong, reliable signal coverage.

Powering the device is just as flexible; you can use PoE+ (802.3at) on the 2.5Gbps port or USB PD power. This makes installation easier, especially in places where traditional power outlets aren’t convenient.

The hardware is designed to last, with a temperature-resistant PA2200 nylon enclosure made from custom SLS prints. The enclosure can handle up to 176°C, and it uses brass heat-set inserts for extra durability. Inside, you’ll find a CM5 active cooler to keep things running smoothly, along with a UART/USB download mode and an LED disable switch for more control.
