The Auvidea X242 is a premium carrier board designed specifically for the NVIDIA Jetson T5000 (also known as Jetson Thor) system-on-module, delivering a powerful, scalable and flexible platform for advanced robotics, edge AI and embedded computing applications.
The X242 is an industrial-grade platform, but it does not significantly tie up the Jetson T5000, a module that has the potential of an excellent Blackwell-architecture GPU with up to 2070 FP4 teraflops of artificial intelligence processing and as much as 128 GB of memory. This enables the X242 to fit real-time AI inference, sensor fusion, autonomous machines, or multi-sensor robotics systems.

Demanding Applications Connection and I/O
The features of the X242 that are particularly impressive are its universal connectivity package, designed to match the modern embedded system requirements:
- Multi-screen capabilities: Direct connection of 4 Monitors, 1 HDMI and 3 USB-C ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode capabilities.
- Blistering network: Two native 10 GbE ports provide high-performance wired network capabilities to data-intensive processes.
- PCIe Gen5: PCIe Gen5 (up to 32 Gbit/s per lane) Add-Fi support for high-speed peripherals or to/from board interconnects.
- Storage and modem: Two onboard M.2 Key B slots (One M.2 Key issues for 5G modem card), and M.2 Key M slots (NVMe SSDs) for optional storage and cellular access.
Design and Practical Features
The X242 board is engineered with industrial reliability in mind. It accepts a wide 24 V–48 V power input with hot-plug protection and uses an extendable form factor that is backwards compatible with earlier X23x carrier boards used for Jetson AGX Xavier/Orin modules. This makes upgrades simpler for existing installations.
Additionally, the X242 has a 16-lane CSI-2 camera connector, which fits complex multi-camera vision systems, and an optional custom design is also provided upon request when specialised applications are required.

Software Support
The carrier board is based on the NVIDIA Jetson software stack and is therefore fully compatible with the Jetson T5000 module. It is supported by NVIDIA JetPack SDK that contains Ubuntu-based Linux, board support packages (BSP), device drivers, CUDA, cuDNN, TensorRT, multimedia APIs and camera frameworks. The environment enables developers to execute AI inference, computer vision, robotics, and multimedia workloads, functionalities included with this software environment. They also have a standard Linux toolset, support for containers (Docker), and OTA updates, which makes the X242 the right choice when it comes to developing and deploying an embedded AI system to production.
The X242 carrier board from Auvidea is listed on the company’s official store at around €599–€799 (excluding VAT and shipping), depending on the hardware revision and configuration. Availability depends on current stock and production batches, as the board is mainly sold directly to business customers through Auvidea’s webshop, with lead times and export conditions varying by region.
