The TI AM62LX Size-SF OSM System on Module (SoM) from iWave Global is a powerful, compact computing building block designed for embedded and industrial applications requiring efficient processing, rich connectivity, and rugged performance. This SoM will provide, on a small scale, the AMD62Lx application processor and the necessary compute power needed in an edge device, a gateway, human-machine interface (HMI), and others.
Central to the module is a dual-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 processor, which can also run at up to 1.25 GHz, which seems to be a compromise between performance and energy consumption that is applicable to real-time control, communication, and user interface applications. 1 GB LPDDR4 RAM (expandable to 2GB) and 8GB eMMC flash storage space is an example of a memory configuration that would provide adequate space to operate the OS, apps, and store local data.

The SoM is based on OSM v1.2 Size-SF LGA solderable and has a small 30 mm x 30 mm footprint. This standardised module design excels in space-limited applications and allows for direct board affixing, providing reliability and high mechanical strength in industrial settings. The operating temperature of the module is between -40 °C and +85 °C, hence extreme temperatures where temperature constancy is important in applications.
Connectivity on the AM62LX SoM is comprehensive. Dual 1 Gb RGMII Ethernet interfaces support networked applications, while a mix of peripherals, including USB 2.0 OTG and host ports, SD and QSPI interfaces, CAN, UART (with and without flow control), I2C, SPI, GPIOs, PWM, ADCs, and a debug UART, ensures flexibility in communicating with sensors, actuators, and displays. Display output options are provided via MIPI DSI and RGB interfaces, broadening the scope for embedded HMIs.
Software support is equally robust, with Linux 6.12.13 or higher supported out of the box, along with available BSPs and development guides that accelerate integration into custom applications.
