M5Stack has released its ESP32-based Air Quality Kit v1.1, now featuring the Stamp-S3A master control unit, improvements to the WiFi antenna design, and better power efficiency. The updates are targeted at users who want reliable, remote monitoring of air quality in diverse environments.

The upgrade depends on the sensor module kit, including the SEN55 and SCD40 sensors. PM1.0, PM2.5, PM4, PM10 particulate matter, temperature, humidity, volatile organic compounds (VOC), and CO₂ concentration all together. With low power consumption, it has a 1.54-inch e-ink display with 200×200 resolution.

Key Specifications of ESP32-based Air Quality Kit v1.1:

Providing dependable performance for sensor and IoT applications, the Air Quality Kit v1.1 runs on an ESP32-S3FN8 SoC with a dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor. With Button A, Button B, a Power On button, a Reset button, and a Power Off button, it gives users flexible control choices. It has a HY2.0-4P Grove interface for extension in addition to an onboard passive buzzer for alerts or notifications. Operating within a temperature range of 0 to 40°C, its small form factor measures 72.0 × 56.0 × 26.5 mm. Furthermore, its 91.4 g weight renders it light and transportable for use in many air quality monitoring projects.

Power management is another highlight. For sleep and timed wake-up features, the device has a 600 mAh lithium battery and real-time clock (RTC), hence enabling it to run without frequent charging even during periodic monitoring. Its mounting possibilities—LEGO-compatible mounting holes, a magnetic base, and removable mounting lugs—also help with flexibility since they allow for a number of forms of installation.

The factory firmware supports cloud upload of data to the M5Stack Ezdata platform, enabling remote viewing of air quality information. For those who like to tinker, it’s compatible with development platforms like UiFlow2, Arduino IDE, ESP-IDF, and PlatformIO.

Price and Availability:

Currently, the Air Quality Kit v1.1 with M5StampS3A (SEN55, SCD40) is listed at $89.90 on the official M5Stack store, though it is out of stock at the moment. Other retailers, like AliExpress, offer it for around $114.80 with shipping from China. While global availability varies, interested buyers can find the kit through select distributors even when the official store shows limited stock.
