RAK Wireless has introduced the RAK3112 WisDuo, a compact yet powerful IoT module built around the ESP32-S3 microcontroller and SX1262 LoRa transceiver, combining LoRa, WiFi, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity in a small footprint for developers who need multiple connectivity options and edge intelligence in one package. This has rendered it highly applicable in all sorts of activities, such as remote sensing and handheld communication devices.

The edge artificial intelligence of the RAK3112 is one of its major features since it enables developers to run lightweight neural networks using ESP-DL directly. This makes real-time, on-device decision-making feasible and lowers dependency on cloud computing. The module also allows developers to create products with local dashboards or status panels rather than depending only on remote telemetry, therefore supporting display connections. Mesh-ready as well, the RAK3112 is perfect for dispersed communication in places devoid of network coverage by supporting frameworks like Meshtastic.

With up to 16 MB of flash memory, the module is physically small, about 15 x 23 x 3 mm, for managing firmware, artificial intelligence models, and logging needs. Operating on a supply voltage range of 3.0 V to 3.6 V, it provides an industrial temperature range from −40 °C to +85 °C. making it appropriate for tough settings. Ensuring compliance with regional standards worldwide, the RAK3112 is also available in several regional LoRaWAN frequency versions, including EU868, US915, AU915, and AS923.

RAK Wireless envisions the RAK3112 being used in practical applications like handheld mesh radios for communication in remote terrains, industrial panels for real-time monitoring and local anomaly detection, and other smart IoT devices where cloud connectivity is limited. The RAK3112 has more processing capabilities, more memory, and better AI and display-driven application integration than previous modules, such as the RAK11160, and other ESP32-S3-based products, including the reTerminal E1001/E1002, the LILYGO T-Display Bar, the LilyGO’s new T-Circle and others.

Software support:

The RAK3112 gains from a rich ecosystem of RAKwireless RUI3 APIs, official SDKs from Espressif (ESP-IDF, ESP-DL), Arduino libraries, and community firmware like Meshtastic, which gives developers access whether they are working with AI and mesh networks, building production-ready devices, or prototyping. Price and Availability:

The official RAKwireless store presently sells the RAK3112 WisDuo module for only $8.00; therefore, it’s a budget-friendly option for developers seeking LoRa, WiFi, and BLE connectivity in a small ESP32 module. While the 800 MHz variants (EU868/IN865/RU864) are still in stock, some frequency variations, such as 900 MHz (US915/AU915/KR920/AS923), are currently sold out. The module is also available on AliExpress at $9.59, excluding shipping charges, giving buyers an alternative source. Customers in India will find that local distributors have not widely listed the RAK3112 yet, so importing it through RAKwireless or AliExpress may be the most practical option.
