The Turris Omnia NG is a high-performance next-generation router to satisfy the needs of demanding users in need of speed, security, and flexibility. This router has a base memory capacity of 64-bit ARMv8, which has 4 cores with a speed of 2.2 GHz; this allows this router to attain 11,530 Mbps speed, which is good both in the workplace and at home, where internet connectivity is fast and stable.

OMNIA NG Next-generation router Overview:

It has one of the greatest features, the support of Wi-Fi 7, which has faster wireless performance in the 6 GHz and 5 GHz bands, as well as 10Gbps SFP+ and 2.5Gbps RJ45 interfaces that support wired connections. It also has an M.2 slot, which means that one can quickly upgrade the device with 4G or 5G modules, and it is already prepared to support the next-generation mobile connectivity.

To further the convenience, the router also has a 240×240 IPS colour screen which displays the information about the system at a glance. Its rack-mount design is also modular and allows it to be used as a rack mount, so it can be used both in a home lab and an enterprise setup. The expandable hardware has two free M.2 and USB 3.0 ports, which allow the user to add storage or incorporate personal functions.

One of the main features of the Omnia NG is security with the Turris Sentinel system, a dynamic and dispersed firewall system that examines and blocks attacks in real time. It gathers information on routers across the globe to offer real-time security, transmitting updates within a few seconds upon the detection of a new menace. As a provider of high-quality network defence of high quality, it provides community-driven and powerful network defence with more than 15,000 routers in its ecosystem and over 4,500 security updates every day, as per the official announcement.

Software Support:

The router runs using Turris OS, which is a Linux distribution which is based on OpenWRT, making the router accessible to an open and versatile operating system, including LXC containers and automatic updates using a straightforward web administration system. The Omnia NG is passively cooled and is highly performance-based, thus it operates silently yet remains stable when under extreme loads. Rooted in Czechoslovakia, CZ.NIC designed the Turris Omnia NG to have long-term software compatibility, scalability, and design suitable for reliability and support for years further on.

We have previously covered some routers like the Aura 5G travel router, the Raspberry Pi CM5 Router and other router boards like Banana Pi BPI-R4Pro and Banana Pi BPI-R4 Lite. Check those out for your reference.

Price and availability:

The Turris Omnia NG is currently not widely sold yet, and the official price has not been announced. Nevertheless, on Discomp, it retails at 460.72 EUR (without tax). The earlier models of Turris Omnia ran in the market at INR 54,000 by specialised sellers, but the brand-new NG running on Wi-Fi 7, 10GbE, and 5G ought to fetch a premium. The users can be advised to visit the official Turris site or make calls directly to sales: sales@turris.com to confirm the current availability and price.
